Summer cruise: Sønderborg

29 July 2004

The last stop on their cruise was Sønderborg. They received gifts at the city hall and greeted the thousands of people who had come to catch a glimpse of the couple. In a convertible Mercedes they were driven to the military school where they were given a guided tour.

They unveiled  a renovated part of the quay and a statue. They had lunch in the Knight's Hall of Sønderborg castle.

A walk around town concluded the summer cruise.

Mary wore a new suit by Clements Ribeiro and new pumps by Dolce & Gabbana.

The traditional reception was left out of the program. The local dignitaries were invited to a reception at the nearby Gråsten slot the next day, where Fred & Mary spent some time with the rest of the royal family.
