Baptizing "Gudrun Mærsk"

Frederik and Mary accepted the invitation to baptize the container ship "Gudrun Mærsk" in Odense - at that time the largest container ship in the world.

They were personally guided around the ship by the then 92 year old Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller, the richest man in Denmark and close allie of the royal family.

Also at this event were Mary's Australian friends Amber Petty, Hamish Campbell and his fiancée Genevieve Taubman. They had come over to Denmark to visit Mary.

Hamish Campbell has been a close friend of Mary since they met at Hobart University. He's godfather to prince Christian, and with his wife Genevieve he's regularly visited Mary in Denmark and France (Cayx). He lives in Sydney and is the owner of Exton Investment. In March 2007 he got married to Genevieve Taubman. She's the co-owner of The Mint Partners, a lifestyle communications agency. The couple have 2 sons: James and ???

Billed Bladet reports that Frederik & (pregnant) Mary now own a young Border Collie.

The puppy was offered to them by the Dansk Kennel Club as a wedding present. Mary & Frederik were free to chose a breed and pup they liked. The puppy was chosen at Blue Borders Kennel. Her original name was "Jezabel", but the couple changed it to "Ziggy".

Opening of Danfoss Universe

Mary's first official activity after the anouncement of her pregnancy was the opening of a scientific experience park with Frederik in Nordborg. The media coverage and public attention was huge.

Also present were Mary's lady-in-waiting countess Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen, prince Joachim and his ex wife countess Alexandra of Frederiksborg. Alexandra's activities would gradually become less.

Mary wore a new Prada suit.

The couple was flown back and forth.

The first sighting of Mary after the anouncement of her pregnancy. She was walking in Fredensborg park with her friend Helle Reedtz-Thott and her new dog Ziggy.

At noon Per Thornit sent out the official statement that Mary was pregnant, and that the birth was expected for the end of October at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen.

Visit to Japan: day 3

On the final day of their official visit to Japan, the crown prince & crown princess of Denmark visited the Denmark day at the world exposition in Aichi.

Mary was expecting Christian. The news would be officially anounced 5 days later.

On the second day of their official visit to Japan, crown princess Mary visited the HC Andersen theme park in Funabashi.

At noon there was a lunch in Hagoya, hosted by the company Toyota.

Mary was expecting Christian. The news would only be made public after the visit to Japan.

Visit to Japan: day 1 - extra labels

Visit to Japan: day 1

After Thailand, the crown princely couple flew to Japan where they performed a 3-day official visit, in the company of representatives of the Danish Chamber of Commerce.

On the first day Mary visited Tokyo's Medical University. She was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, countess Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen.

Together with Frederik she opened the new Japanese HQ of Danish pharmaceutical Novo Nordisk.

Frederik & Mary met emperor Akihito, empress Michiko and crown prince Naruhito at noon for lunch at Togu Palace.

Then it went on to a reception at the Danish embassy in Tokyo, where the couple opened the expo on Danish design "Use It". About 100 Danish residents of Japan were present and had a short talk with the couple, who stayed for an hour.


At night there was an official dinner hosted by the Danish embassy. Mary & Frederik were flanked once again by Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen and Per Thornit.


Mary wore a new gala ensemble by Carolina Herrera.

Mary was expecting her first child. The news would be made public after the visit to Japan.
