In the morning pregnant Mary & husband Frederik assisted at a memorial service for the tsunami victims on the beach of the the Merlin resort in Khao Lak, together with the relatives of the more than 40 Danish victims.
With them were Danish bishop Søren Lodberg Hvass, PM Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Economics Minister Bendt Bendtsen, Mary's lady-in-waiting Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen and chief-of-court Per Thornit.
In the afternoon the royal couple, the prime minister & his wife Anne-Mette and minister Bendtsen were shown a temporary shelter for villagers who had been left homeless after the tsunami.
The next day Mary & Frederik left for Japan, where they performed an official visit of a couple of days. At the end of the visit Mary's pregnancy was anounced.
