Visit to Romania: day 1

8th October 2007

Crown prince Frederik and crown princess Mary of Denmark made a 2-day official visit to Romania, at the invitation of  President Traian Basescu. They were accompanied by Per Thornit and by Mary's lady-in-waiting, Caroline Heering.

A nanny took care of Isabella, who was still being breastfed by Mary.

At 11:30 they arrived at the Cotroceni Palace in Bucharest where they were officially welcomed by the president and his wife, Maria Basescu.

Mary carried a new Chanel purse.
Her new dress was by Strenesse.

Afterwards the crown princely couple visited the Art Collections Museum in Bucharest.

They then went on to the Danish embassy for an official reception.

At the Victor Babes Hospital they visited the Casa Doru ward for HIV infected children.

Finally they met Romanian PM Popescu and his wife.

Opening of Parliament 2007

2nd October 2007

Crown princess Mary was among the members of the Danish royal family who were present for the official opening of the parliamentary year at Christiansborg in Copenhagen.

Outside a demonstration was taking place against the anounced cutbacks by PM Anders Fogh Rasmussen's government.

A day later prince Joachim and Marie Cavallier officially anounced their engagement.

Mary Scholarships 2007

Crown princess Mary handed out her scholarship certificates at the Amager Campus of Copenhagen University to two Australian students. Sam Christensen en Phoebe Downing received financial support to study a year in Denmark.

Mary was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, Caroline Heering.

In March 2007, Patricia Bailey had congratulated Sam Christensen on her sister's behalf at the University of Tasmania.

Crown prince Frederik and crown princess Mary handed out their annual awards at the Opera in Copenhagen.

The social prize went to Ventilen, an organization that helps lonely youngsters to break out of their isolation.

The culture prize went to actress Sonja Richter.

Mary wore a new Prada dress

She also wore a new pair of "soomerfugl" earrings by Marianne Dulong.

Among the guests were also Mads Mikkelsen and his wife, Hanne Jacobsen.

On their last day of the Danish promo trip to New York, crown prince Frederik and crown princess Mary gave an interview at the Tavern on the Green near Central Park.


Mary wore a new Hugo Boss dress, and a new Georg Jensen "Cave" ring matching her other "Cave" jewellery.

Later in the day the couple was een leaving their hotel with baby Isabella, en route for the airport.
Mary wore new flats by Chanel.

At 15:20 crown princess Mary attended a conference at the Hilton hotel on sustainability in business life.

Mary wore a new Heartmade skirt and new Prada pumps.
Her new handbag was by ChloƩ.

Mary wore new "Aqua" earrings by Marianne Dulong.

Afterwards Mary and Frederik were shown a Danish theatre performance at The Shelter Studios.

From 18:30 to 22:30 the crown prince couple attended the Creative Nation gala dinner at Cipriani's.

Mary wore a new gala skirt by Malene Birger.

Her new pumps were by Hugo Boss.
