Five days after the birthday party on the Dannebrog, Frederik and Mary hosted another private dinner and party. This one took place at Fredensborg and had 140 guests.
It started with dinner at the Orangerie of Fredensborg Slot at 19:00 and went on in a tent in the backyard of Kancellihuset untill 5:00 with neighbours calling the police to complain about the noise.
Mary wore a new dress by Matthew Williamson.
As a surprise for her husband, Mary sang a ballad written by Jarl Friis-Mikkelsen with music composed by Bent Fabricius Bjerre. She sang it in front of him and their audience, accompanied by Chris Minh Doky at the piano. Mary had beforehand received a CD with the song, so she could practice it in private - mostly in her car.
Other guests also performed songs and dances for Frederik.
Next Anne Linnet performed some of her classics, followed by Lårs H.U.G. About midnight Alex Nyborg Madsen's band 'Led Zeppelin Jam' performed. Crown Prince Frederik joined in on harmonica. Then a DJ took over.
Mary had ordered Greenlandic ice for the guests to cool their drinks with.

On the 2nd of June Amber Petty was interviewed on her Australian SAFM radio show. Amber said she spent most of the night dancing with Mary, and that a certain perfect Danish princess may have gotten back to her Aussie roots and was a doing air guitar to Led Zepplin.
She was asked about what presents Frederik received and she said that she had given him some South Australian wines the night before the party. They had sat down and enjoyed them that evening.
She was very tired having gone to bed at 5:30 and she would be in Denmark for another 2 and a half weeks.
After the balcony appearance at Amalienborg, a party was hosted aboard the Dannebrog to celebrate Frederik's 40th birthday - it lasted untill 2:00.
It was Frederik himself who wished to celebrate his birthday onboard the Dannebrog. The plan to sail up the Sound between Denmark and Sweden had to be cancelled due to bad weather. Instead the ship staid in the harbour.
Mary wore a new gown by Juozas Statkevicius.
