Wedding of prince Joachim and Marie Cavallier

Prince Joachim's second wedding, to French Marie Cavallier took place in the church of Møgeltønder where the couple resided at the time, at Schackenborg Castle.

The Danish royals were driven from Graasten Slot to Møgeltønder. Among the 300 guests were:

Joachim's aunt, Catherine de Monpezat

Count Michael & countess Caroline Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille

 Rose Gad & Holger Foss

 Per & Ulla Thornit

Mary wore a new gown by Ole Yde.

It was the last time she wore the ruby tiara in its full glorious version, as it had been designed for queen Ingrid.

Joachim entered the church accompanied by his two sons, Nikolai (8) and Felix (5).

Arrival of the bride. Marie's gown was designed by Arasa Morelli. Her diamond earrings were a gift from her mother. Her diamond tiara was a gift from queen Margrethe II.

During the service prince Felix had trouble staying awake.

  1. Marie tiara not gave. It takes her a loan for activities where it is needed. In due time the Queen gave the tiara to Alexandra and Mary.
