"Kronprinsessen i Afrika"

7 October 2008

Three days after returning from her mission with Dansk Flygtningehjælp DR1 aired a documentary on the trip.

These are some quotes from an interview Mary gave to TV2:

“Before I left I had read and heard a lot about the area and the problems people face overthere. But now I come home with a human perspective which is perhaps the most important perspective of all. I will never be able to fully comprehend what they have been through. But when you see the misery and hear their stories, you get an understanding of what it means.”

During the visit Mary was bombarded with smells, sounds and visual impressions.
- “But the strongest for me has clearly been what my eyes have seen. It are things I hadn’t seen before: poverty in the eyes of little children. When I put my head on the pillow at night it took time to fall asleep. The pictures of small faces and adult faces kept moving by again and again. You can see in their faces that they have been through a hell. But there is hope.
