Frederik & Mary celebrated new year's eve at their hunting lodge in Trend, with some of their closest friends: Tanja Kjærsgaard and her then husband, Chris Minh Doky; Birgitte & Jeppe Handwerk, Rose Gad & Holger Foss and Marie Louise & Jørgen Skeel.

Holidays in Verbier

Mary, Frederik and their two small children Christian (2,5 years) and Isabella (10 months) went on their annual skiing trip to Verbier, Switzerland. They were accompanied by their close friends, Peter & Caroline Heering and their two daughters and by Jeppe & Birgitte Handwerk and their 2 daughters. They had rented a large chalet together. Nannies were with them to look after the children while the parents went skiing.

The press spotted them on numerous occasions.

There was also an official photo session.

When asked by the press if the couple wanted more children, Mary replied "Yes, if we can be so lucky. Children will come, when they come."

Mary's 36th birthday

At 19:30 Mary hosted a dinner party at Kancellihuset for queen Margrethe, prince Henrik, prince Joachim, Peter & Caroline Heering, Michael Brand & Rikke Juel-Brandt, Christian & Elisabeth Buchwald and Jeppe & Birgitte Handwerk.

Christening of Palma Handwerk

3 February 2008

Frederik, Mary and their two children were among the guests at the christening of the second daughter of their close friends, Jeppe and Birgitte Handwerk at Garnisionskirken on Sankt Annæ Plads in Copenhagen.

Mary wore a new Heartmade skirt.

Birgitte Handwerk and her first daughter, India.

Other guests were: prince Joachim and his fiancée, Marie Cavallier.

Also present were: Søren Hedegaard & Preben Kristensen, Julie Mølsgaard, count Bendt Wedell & countess Pernille Wedell, Caroline Heering & her family, Malou & Jørgen Skeel and Ellen Hillingsø who is Palma's godmother. 

Palma was christened by Peter Parkov.

At 20:30 a dinner was held, followed by a party that lasted untill 05:00.

Mary wore a new dress by Temperley London.

Croation holidays

15th July 2007

Mary, Frederik and their 2 children arrived in Dubrovnik, Croatia where they boarded the luxury yacht "Seagull" with their friends Jeppe & Birgitte Handwerk, and Peter & Caroline Heering for a cruise in the Adriatic.

The use of the yacht was offered to them by Danish business man Henry Jørgensen, the owner of ferry company Blue Line.

Mary wore new Chanel sunglasses.

Nanny Mette Hansen went along on the trip. The other families brought nannies as well.

Birthday lunch & dinner

Queen Margrethe, prince Henrik, crown prince Frederik, crown princess Mary and prince Joachim celebrated the 75th anniversary of the royal ship "Dannebrog" with a lunch onboard.

Mary wore new (monogramed) earrings by Cenius & Bach.

Her new coat was by Day, Birger et Mikkelsen.

Frederik & Mary had brought their son Christian and the yet unnamed little princess with them. Nanny Mette Hansen helped out.

It was also Frederik's 39th birthday. In the evening a dinner was hosted for him at Kancellihuset. The guests were Peter & Caroline Heering, Jeppe & Birgitte Handwerk and Christian & Elizabeth Buchwald.

Birth of Isabella

21st April 2007

At 10:00 in the morning of Saturday the 21st of April Mary was driven from Kancellihuset in Fredensborg to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen.

At 16:02 the crown princess gave birth to a girl of 50 centimeters and 3.350 grams. Per Thornit sent out a statement, also mentioning mother and daughter were doing fine.

She was given the titles "princess of Denmark" and "comtesse de Monpezat". Her name would only be anounced 3 months later, at her christening. Untill then she was called "lillepige" (little girl) in the press.

At 17:40 crown prince Frederik met the press for 5 minutes. He told them he got teary at the birth but he hadn't been as scared as the first time since he knew better what to expect. His daughter had a lot of dark hair. They didn't know the child's sex beforehand. Labour took 6 hours and went smoothly. Mary was doing fine, all considered. Frederik also told the reporters Christian would only be visiting the next day, as it was near his bedtime. Queen Margrethe and prince Henrik were with him at Fredensborg.

The midwife gave some more praise of the crown prince couple and told the press Mary had received an epidural.

Mary phoned her sisters and brother in Australia to give them the news. Their friends received a text message. Prince Joachim had a bouquet of pink flowers sent over to Mary in the afternoon.

Later that night there was a 21 gun salute for the new Danish princess.

At night queen Margrethe & prince Henrik came to visit, just like Peter & Caroline Heering and Jeppe & Birgitte Handwerk. They left around 21:30.

A trip to the zoo

Crown princess Mary & her son, prince Christian were spotted at the zoo in Copenhagen. The were accompanied by Mary's friend Birgitte Handwerk.

Summer holidays: France

Late July 2006

Mary, Fred and Christian spent the last week of July in France, at the château de Cayx. They were joined by Birgitte and Jeppe Handwerk, who brought their daughter India - she was born 3 weeks after Christian.

While Mary, Birgitte and the babies flew to France, Frederik and Jeppe drove by car.

Mary spotted by paparazzi in Cahors.

Robbie Williams concert

6 July 2006

The first sighting of Mary during her 6 week summer break was at a Robbie Williams concert at Parken stadium in Copenhagen.

She & Frederik were accompanied by friends, including Peter & Caroline Heering and Birgitte & Jeppe Handwerk.

Mary wore a new necklace by Malene Birger.
