Frederik, Mary, Christian and Isabella visited Egeskov Castle in Kværndrup. They were given a tour by the owners, count Michael and countess Caroline Ahlefeldt-Laurvig-Bille.
In 2017, count Michael- by then divorced from Caroline - started a relationship with Frederik's cousin, princess Alexandra von Sayn-Witgenstein Berleburg.
