Crown Princess Mary Scholarship 2006

Crown princess Mary awarded her scholarship for the second time, giving two Australian students the chance to spend a year at a Danish uni.

 


The winners were Danielle Conlan from Tasmania University and Joseph Kelly from Queensland University.




The presentation took place at Copenhagen University, where Mary & Frederik had also been on an unofficial guided visit a day earlier.

Mary wore a new "sommerfugl" necklace by Marianne Dulong.

 

The principal and the crown princess both gave a speech.


  


Mary was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, Caroline Heering.

Second patronage: Psykiatrifonden

18 January 2005

Mary made a visit to the second organisation she chose to become patron of: Psykiatrifonden, the Danish Mental Health Fund.

The meeting took place at the Fund's offices in Copenhagen. Pupils of the Øresundsskole, a special school for children with handicaps, were waiting outside to see the new crown princess.

Wedding of Rikke Juel & Michael Brandt

4 December 2004

Frederik & Mary were guests at the wedding of their friends Rikke Juel and Michael Brandt. During the church ceremony the couple's daughter Ida-Marie was christened. Ida-Marie was born on 23 August 2004.

 


Mary carried a new purse by Mulberry and wore new Prada pumps.


At night the guests changed outfits for the party. Mary wore a new long cardigan by Missoni.

Lecture & Concert with John and Susan

In the afternoon Mary & Frederik attended a lecture on globalization, in the company of Mary's father John Donaldson and his wife Susan Moody.

 





At night the couple changed for a concert of the Wiener Philharmoniker at Falconer Center in Copenhagen. This time they were accompanied by queen Margrethe, prince Joachim and again by Mary's father & stepmom.

Mary wore a new top by Heartmade.



Heartmade's designer is Julie Fagerholdt, one of Mary's Danish friends. Julie started the exclusive label in 1998.

International Education Week

Together with her lady-in-waiting, princess Mary attended a session of the International Education Week in Copenhagen.

She wore a new suit by Missoni.

                                       



Mary was seated inbetween Danish minsiter of Education Ulla Tørnæs and the Australian ambassador Mathew Peek.


She wore a new pair of Jimmy Choo pumps.

Visit to London: day one

Frederik & Mary made a three day (working) visit to London, mainly for the launch of the Hans Christian Andersen year, which really started in 2005.

On their first day in the British capital, the couple visited Tate Modern, where they saw a new installation of Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson, followed by a private tour of the museum.




In the City architect Lord Norman Foster showed them around the Swiss Re Tower (the gherkin).



Finally the crown prince couple opened a new exhibition at the Royal Academy, with works that belong to the Danish Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. For this they were joined by Danish culture minister Brian Mikkelsen and his wife Eliane Wexsøe, as well as the Duke of Gloucester and the Danish-born Duchess of Gloucester.


After the opening ceremony and a tour of the museum, a gala dinner took place.
The couple received artwork by Scottish painter John Ballany, an acquaintance of Mary's father.
Mary wore a new dress by Hugo Boss.
