Promo Trip to Washington: Day 2

Crown prince Frederik & crown princess Mary made a 5-day official trip to Washington, USA as an official way to mark the 50th anniversary of the Danish embassy in the American capital. The trip largerly focused on Danish architecture and on H.C. Andersen. Mary was in the first stage of her third pregnancy, expecting twins. The news hadn't been made public yet.

Visit to the Military Hospital Walter Reed, where wounded soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan were receiving rehabilitation treatment.



Mary wore a new dress by Hugo Boss.






13:00 to 14:15
Opening of the "Architecture of Diplomacy" symposium at the National Building Museum. American & Danish architects discussed how architecture can express and promote a country's culture and values.



19:00 to 21:00
Reception at the Danish Embassy to mark the 50th anniversary of the friendship between the USA and Denmark.


Mary wore new earrings by Marianne Dulong.

20 Years of Children's Rights: Day 2

The royals attended a seminar on the 20th anniversary of the UN's Declaraton of Children's Rights in Stockholm.



Mary was wearing the jacket of a new Prada suit.













Once the seminar was over, Victoria took Mary shopping in Stockholm. They were joined by Mary's lady-in-waiting Caroline Heering. The Swedish press speculated that Mary would certainly be party of Victoria's hen night which was due to take place in Verbier, Switzerland in the spring of 2010.

Danish Design Visit to USA: Day 2

Crown prince Frederik pronounced the opening speech at the Climate and Energy Conference in Chicago, arranged by city of Chicago and the Danish Embassy in Washington DC.

Frederik & Mary were given a presentation of Chicago's green initiatives, including visits to Chicago's "green roofs".

Lunch with the conference delegates.

14:30
A visit at The Danish Old People’s Home of Chicago.









20:00
A dinner reception with representatives of the Danish-American community in Des Moines, Iowa.
