Christiansborg Rundt + Nikolai's Birthday

28 August 2010

After 10 days away from the rest of her family - solo holidays in Australia and a wedding in Greece - crown princess Mary returned to Denmark.

The swimming event 'Christiansborg Rundt' marked the start of her official activities after a 2 month summer break. Tanja Doky accompanied the crown princess as lady-in-waiting.

As patron of the Danish Swimming Union Mary gave the official start.

Two years later Mary would participate herself in this event: a 2000 meter swimming race through the Copenhagen canals. At the 2010 race she was already asked if she would participate. She answered that she couldn't because of her pregnancy, but "who knows, in the future...".

Mary wore new "Gwenneth" earrings by Julie Wettergren.

She handed the prize to the winner of the swimming race.

Later the same day, Mary, Frederik & the children stopped by countess Alexandra's villa to take part in prince Nikolai's 11th birthday party.
