IOC Congress: Luncheon & Opening Ceremony

1 October 2009

The International Olympic Comittee Congress was held in Copenhagen in 2009.

At 13:00 the queen, prince Henrik and the crown prince couple hosted a luncheon at Amalienborg Slot for the heads of state and high profile guests who were attending the IOC congress. A big focus was on American first lady Michelle Obama.









At 17:15 the opening ceremony of the IOC congress started at Copenhagen's Opera House.

Chicago's mayor, Richard Daley and Oprah Winfrey.

Princess Anne, grand duke Henri of Luxembourg, crown prince Willem-Alexander of Holland and the former king & queen of Greece.




Prince Albert II of Monaco & Michelle Obama.

The royals arrived by barge from Amaliehave as usual.




Caroline Heering acted as lady-in-waiting.


Mary carried a new clutch by Yves Saint Laurent.

After the ceremony queen Margrethe & prince Henrik left, while Frederik & Mary stayed on for the reception.

Donation for Refugee Council & EliteForsk Conference 2009

At 11:00, crown princess Mary accepted a donation from the Danish Demining Group (part of the Swedish Lottery Group) on behalf of her patronage, Dansk Flygtningehjælp. The audience took place at Amalienborg, Christian VIIIs Palae.



Mary wore a new skirt by Alberta Ferretti.



In the afternoon, Mary attended the EliteForsk conference at New Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen where various researchers were awarded for their work.



One of the recipients, Milena Penkowa (in the middle) saw her prize later taken away from her because she committed fraud.


Mary's new brooch was by Yves Saint Laurent. She new pumps were Louboutins.

Visit to London: day two

15 September 2004

Mary & Frederik officially launched the British bicentennial celebration of Hans Christian Andersen's birth in London, at the British Library.

Mary wore a new Prada skirt and new Yves Saint Laurent pumps.



Like the previous day, she was posing in the way she had learnt at Starmakers.



Mary also wore a new pearl bracelet.


Among the guests at the launch were the British HC Andersen ambassadors, including Roger Moore, sir David Frost, Liz Hurley and Sir Derek Jacobi.


Mary told Australian newspaper The Age she was "having a lovely trip" and was in fine health and spirits.

Chief of court Per Thornit was with them on the London trip.
