Margrethe 70: Gala for Danish Officials

For more than a week Queen Margrethe II's upcoming 70th birthday was celebrated with a large number of festive events in Denmark, culminating in a various galas. Mary was at the very start of her third pregnancy, expecting twins. The news hadn't been made public yet.

A first grand gala banquet for queen Margrethe's 70th birthday was hosted at Christiansborg. Apart from the royal family, princess Benedikte & prince Richard von Sayn-Wittgenstein Berleburg, guests included the members of government and other officials such as mayors and judges.


The royal guests arrived at 19:30.



Mary wore the red gown, designed by Uffe Frank that she originally wore on the night before her wedding day. She's also worn it to the gala for the Bulgarian state visit in 2006.

Around this time Mary's third pregnancy started. At this stage it was still very private, and the couple possibly wasn't aware yet they would be having twins.

State Visit to Vietnam: Day 3

9:25 Queen Margrethe II and crown princess Mary visited a ceramics manufacturer in Ba Trang.











Mary wore a new jacket by Heartmade.



10:45 The queen and the crown princess watched a play at by Batida Children's and Youth Theatre.








11:45 The crown prince couple opened an exhibition at the College of Arts in Hanoi.


13:00 The queen, prince Henrik and the crown prince couple were offered a luncheon Vietnamese business representatives.


14:45 Queen Margrethe II, crown prince Frederik and crown princess Mary opened a street art festival.




16:10 The Danish royals were present at a reception at the National History Museum for Danish citizens living in Vietnam.


19:30 Gala dinner offered by the Danish royals to the Vietnamese presidential couple.
