New year's court

The traditionally very regal first "nytarskur" was replaced by a smaller event, in reception rather than gala style because of the tsunami that hit south east Asia less than a week earlier. In the disaster many Danish tourists were harmed.
The other two new year's courts were cancelled.
A hazy photo of Mary and Frederik arriving at Amalienborg palace:
No footage was released by Danish court. Public opinion was negative on the amount of time the prime minister had taken in making his public condolences.

Summer cruise: Odense

The third stop on their first summer cruise was Odense, Denmark's third city.
Frederik & Mary were driven in a convertible Rolls Royce to the city hall where they received presents. They made a guided visit to Hans Christian Andersen's house, went on a sailing tour which showed them the city sights and had a picknick with guests at the zoo. They also visited Vollsmose, a poorer part of Odense with a large immigrant population.
At night, there was the traditional reception for local dignitaries onboard the Dannebrog.
Mary wore a new Prada dress, and a new Prada cardigan.
