The family was escorted by lady-in-waiting Tanja Minh Doky and Christian Schønau, the new head of the royal household of crown prince Frederik and crown princess Mary. Tanja & Christian would become a couple a few years later.
Of course they'd been in and out of their newly renovated palace all the time. After opening it to the public another renovation had been necessary due to the public damaging the floors with their frequent visits.
Chris Minh Doky had composed a piece of music for the occassion to be played on trumpet by Jesper Riis, but the loud music was only mildly appreciated by Christian (nearly 5) & Isabella (3).
The children were escorted home by nannies before the end of the reception that followed.
Most of the rooms were now being filled with newly picked furniture as the family's other home, Kancellihuset at Fredensborg would remain their second residence, used mostly in spring and summer.
The family would move into Frederik VIIIs Palae early January 2011, just before the birth of the twins.
As patron, crown princess Mary visited the Danish Refugee Council's new project "Viborg 2010 - Verdens Flygtninge" in Viborg. It was to be an afternoon and evening filled with different activities.
Mary was accompanied by Caroline Heering who acted as lady-in-waiting. They arrived at 14:00.
First Mary & Caroline were dropped off at the Bjergsnæs school of Viborg where students had been living a simulated experience of conditions in a refugee camp.
Mary wore a new wrap blouse by Malene Birger. She was at the start of the 5th month of her pregnancy, expecting twins.
An hour later the crown princess had a meeting with a Congolese refugee family & their Danish contact family.
At 16:00 Mary opened a charity auction at art gallery Brænderigården.
At 18:00 Mary and her team had a private dinner.
At 18:55 Mary had changed and arrived at Viborg Theater to attend a gala event with performances.
At the time of her wedding, the town of Viborg had gifted a 50.000 DKR (€ 6.700) cheque for the crown prince couple to spend in Viborg shops. This was of course unlikely to happen. Mary anounced that they were giving back the cheque to Viborg, for them to invest in their refugee projects.
