US President Barack Obama joined his wife Michelle in Copenhagen for a flash visit. The couple was received at Christiansborg Slot. While the president had a meeting with PM Lars Løkke Rasmussen, the first lady was given a tour by the regent couple and the crown prince couple.
At 18:30 crown prince Frederik & crown princess Mary attended the IOC Congress at Bella Center where the location of the 2016 Olympics was anounced - Rio de Janeiro.
Crown princess Mary was accompanied by her husband when she officially received the Women's Prize awarded by Danish women's magazine Alt for damerne.
Mary received the 25th Kvindepris because she is "a role model who is able to balance her professional career with her role as a mother and a wife". The 50,000 Danish kroner she won were donated to Mary Fonden's projects on domestic violence.
Mary said in her speech: "It's been almost five years since I became crown princess and it has been a challenging and exciting journey, to arrive to where I am today...
I quickly realised that I should pursue what my heart burned for and I was aware that I could help to put more focus on areas I chose to get engaged in. If the way I can fulfill my role can inspire others, then I'm very flattered. To be appreciated means a great deal to me".
As patron of the Children's Choir of the Royal Danish Academy of Music, crown princess Mary attended their annual christmas concert at Esajas Kirke in Copenhagen.
She was accompanied by crown prince Frederik, prince Christian, Susan Moody & John Donaldson and Caroline Heering.
Frederik and Mary were among the guests who celebrated the wedding of Thomas Olsen (37) and Annette Petersen, at Holckenhavn Slot on the island Fyn.
Thomas Olsen is an IT millionair and investor. He's known for having bought and sold various Danish footbal clubs. Although not often on the foreground, Thomas and his wife Annette are friends of Frederik & Mary's. They also assisted at their wedding in 2004.
The castle isn't the couple's home. It was 'just' their wedding venue.
After Thailand, the crown princely couple flew to Japan where they performed a 3-day official visit, in the company of representatives of the Danish Chamber of Commerce.
On the first day Mary visited Tokyo's Medical University. She was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, countess Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen.
Together with Frederik she opened the new Japanese HQ of Danish pharmaceutical Novo Nordisk.
Frederik & Mary met emperor Akihito, empress Michiko and crown prince Naruhito at noon for lunch at Togu Palace.
Then it went on to a reception at the Danish embassy in Tokyo, where the couple opened the expo on Danish design "Use It". About 100 Danish residents of Japan were present and had a short talk with the couple, who stayed for an hour.
At night there was an official dinner hosted by the Danish embassy. Mary & Frederik were flanked once again by Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen and Per Thornit.
Mary wore a new gala ensemble by Carolina Herrera.
Mary was expecting her first child. The news would be made public after the visit to Japan.
