For the first time, the crown princess hosted her own new year's court at Amalienborg palace in Copenhagen.

More modern than the ones hosted by the queen, it's really a reception for Mary's patronages where Mary has a 10 minute talk with every association present. It's also a networking opportunity. This has since become an anual tradition. 

The crown princess wore a new jacket by Prada.

The second Nytårskur of 2006

The second new year's court is meant for the royal guard, the horse guard, the dignitaries and the diplomatic corps to present their wishes for the new year to the queen at Amalienborg Palace.

It's smaller than the first kur of the year: earlier in the day, no tiaras, and a smaller royal delegation. None the less it's still a solmn affair.

Afterwards the queenly and crown princely couple posed with their entire staff.
