Odense Blomsterfestival
16 August 2006
Crown princess Mary was present in Odense for the opening of the city's Flower Festival.
She also baptized a new flower species, "Kronprinsessens Klokkeblomst" (the crown princess's 'klokkeblomst')
Mary was accompanied by her lady-in-waiting, Caroline Heering.
Mary was in the very first stage of her pregnancy with Isabella. The news hadn't been made public yet, and the crown princess probably wasn't aware of the pregnancy herself yet.

Frederik and Mary were among the guests who celebrated the wedding of Thomas Olsen (37) and Annette Petersen, at Holckenhavn Slot on the island Fyn.

Thomas Olsen is an IT millionair and investor. He's known for having bought and sold various Danish footbal clubs. Although not often on the foreground, Thomas and his wife Annette are friends of Frederik & Mary's. They also assisted at their wedding in 2004.
The castle isn't the couple's home. It was 'just' their wedding venue.

At skrive er en kærlighedshandling
22 August 2005
Pregnant crown princess Mary and her lady-in-waiting visited the expo "to write is an act of love" organized by the HC Andersen ABC Foundation that fights illiteracy all over the world. Location was Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen.
Video where you can clearly see Mary is quite insecure during this visit: http://localeyes.dk/4898-1234-kronprinsesse-mary-besoger-h-c-andersen-udstilling/ . Also interesting to see how she follows the photographers' wishes and poses a second time.

Australia tour: day 9
5 March 2005
Crown princess Mary and her lady-in-waiting visited the Westmead children's hospital in Sydney. They staid for 1 hour. Outside about 150 fans were waiting to see her.
In the hospital she toured the melanoma research laboratories and learned about the Australian Cancer Foundation's work. She also visited the children's ward.
She read Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale 'The Ugly Duckling' to a small group of children.
Mary wore a new Hugo Boss dress.
Mary was shown round by her former DDB Needham boss Tom Dery. He had invited the princess to see the work being done on skin cancer at the institute. She was keen to take the knowledge about sun damage back to Denmark.Tom Dery: "I think she was very concerned simply in observing the number of people even in Denmark who naturally worship the sun after a long winter and also the use of sunbeds and she's very concerned about the future impact of that."
Afterwards, at 15.00 o'clock, Mary and Frederik escaped their royal duties for a late lunch at Gusto Deli Cafe in Five Ways.
In the evening princess Mary and prince Frederik assisted at a charity fundraiser for the Australian Cancer Research Society, headed by Mary's former boss at Melbourne ad agency DDB Needham, Tom Dery.
Mr Dery employed the young Mary in 1994 when she was just out of university. He approached her to assist at the charity gala just after her wedding. "Mary was always very generous and keen to help and we're obviously grateful for her support now," Mr Dery said.
Frederik & Mary arrived at the Elizabeth Bay waterfront mansion "Boomerang" in a motorcycle cavalcade for the black-tie supper dance with 100 smartly dressed couples who had paid $3000 each.
Mary was in the first stage of her pregnancy with Christian. The news hadn't been made public yet.

Australia tour: day 3
27 February 2005
On Sunday the couple participated in an Australia versus Denmark yacht race in Sydney harbour.
Mary competed in the Australian "Belle Property" team, financed by her former boss Chris Meehan.
Behind the yacht, you can see the Shangri-La Hotel where the Danish princely couple was staying in a suite (it's the one closest to the sail in this photo).
Behind Mary: her lady-in-waiting, countess Victoria Bernstorff-Gyldensteen.

In the afternoon Mary & Frederik attended a lecture on globalization, in the company of Mary's father John Donaldson and his wife Susan Moody.
At night the couple changed for a concert of the Wiener Philharmoniker at Falconer Center in Copenhagen. This time they were accompanied by queen Margrethe, prince Joachim and again by Mary's father & stepmom.
