Nader Mousavizadeh's Party

15 August 2009

Frederik & Mary were guests at the 40th birthday bash of Nader Mousavizadeh, one of Frederik's childhood friends. The party was held at Restaurant Mikkelgaard in Hørsholm.

Nader Mousavizadeh was one of Frederik's classmates at the Øregaard Gymnasium. He went on to study at Harvard, Oxford and other prestigious schools. Nader served as a speechwriter and special assistant to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan after a stint as a UN political officer in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He advised the Secretary-General on a wide range of political matters, including the Balkans, the Middle East, Africa, human rights, and the politics of intervention. Mr Mousavizadeh can now be hired as a motivational speaker.

Nader's Danish-British wife, Alexandra Mousavizadeh is an economist who's worked for Moody's and Morgan Stanley in London and New York. She's also the Director of the Prosperity Index, a comprehensive ranking of the prosperity of more than 140 countries published annually by the London-based Legatum Institute.

Frederik turns 40: Orangerie party

31 May 2006

Five days after the birthday party on the Dannebrog, Frederik and Mary hosted another private dinner and party. This one took place at Fredensborg and had 140 guests.

It started with dinner at the Orangerie of Fredensborg Slot at 19:00 and went on in a tent in the backyard of Kancellihuset untill 5:00 with neighbours calling the police to complain about the noise.

Mary wore a new dress by Matthew Williamson.

As a surprise for her husband, Mary sang a ballad written by Jarl Friis-Mikkelsen with music composed by Bent Fabricius Bjerre. She sang it in front of him and their audience, accompanied by Chris Minh Doky at the piano. Mary had beforehand received a CD with the song, so she could practice it in private - mostly in her car.

Other guests also performed songs and dances for Frederik.

Next Anne Linnet performed some of her classics, followed by  Lårs H.U.G. About midnight Alex Nyborg Madsen's band 'Led Zeppelin Jam' performed. Crown Prince Frederik joined in on harmonica. Then a DJ took over.

Mary had ordered Greenlandic ice for the guests to cool their drinks with.
